The content of your website is what will catch your viewer's interest and draw them in further. Writing strong, persuasive website content and creating attractive, effective visuals is essential. You should almost always do most of the writing before designing the website pages.
Effective website content is a must if you want to successfully gain customers and produce sales. An often used marketing strategy is summed up in what is know as the AIDA formula:
Attention - Grab you reader's attention.
Interest - Develop their interest.
Desire - Compel them want your product or service.
Action - Persuade the viewer to purchase.
Attention: This is the headline and it should be written to grab attention and not to close the sale. Rarely can you close the sale with just the headline, so don't try. You want to catch your viewer's attention by using relevant headlines that will attract your target audience. Stunning visuals are also key in grabbing their attention.
Interest - You want to reach people with interest in what you are offering. Your website content needs to stimulate interest. This is most commonly accomplished by describing your product or service as something that fills a need, solves a problem makes life easier, etc.
Desire - Make the reader desire your product or service by triggering their emotions. Provide website content that supports how by using your product or service that the buyer will get the things they are looking for. People do not buy for logical reasons. They buy because they want to.
Action - Force your viewers to act immediately. One way of compelling people to act immediately, is to give them a time-limited offer. Never be afraid to ask for the sale. Always remember that people are looking for what you offer. Tell them that the offer will expire tomorrow. Tell them that they should stop delaying things, and start moving their lives into the right direction.
